Have you ever wondered what the differences are between handmade and commercially made soaps? You may be surprised to discover how handmade soap and commercially made soap both differ.
Many commercially made soaps can contain a number of ingredients you may struggle to recognise the chemical names of. They often contain synthetic detergents, animal fats, surfactants and preservative. With almost a cocktail of chemical ingredients – it is little wonder that those with sensitive skin can find issues after using commercially made soaps.
Another key difference between handmade soaps and those made commercially is glycerin. As part of the saponification (soapmaking) process all the naturally occurring glycerin produced remains in the soap. When manufacturers make soap commercially the glycerin is removed and sold off as a by-product for lotions etc. And this is exactly why a commercially made bar of soap will crack; it is due to the removal of the glycerin. The removal of the glycerin also means commercial soap can make your skin feel tight after use.
Have you ever noticed that bars of handmade soap last right to the very end? The scrap of soap you are left with when you have used the entire bar won’t crack.
Since 2000 at Nurture By Nature Limited, we have been making by hand a beautiful range of fragrance free and exquisitely scented soaps using the cold process method of soapmaking. We have carefully selected the vegetable fats, oils and butters as ingredients for the benefits they give to skin. We add pure essential oils to our soaps for the therapeutic qualities and the beautiful scents they impart. Other skin loving ingredients such as NZ grown oatmeal, NZ goat milk, organic cream, coconut yoghurt and botanicals are often added. We have sourced a range of premium quality fragrance oils which smell exquisite and are phthalate free and the scent lasts right to the very end.
Our products have been tested on ourselves. Only when we were satisfied with the amazing lather of our soaps and ability to cleanse the skin gently, were we happy to present them to our customers. We invite you to try our range of handmade soaps and allow your skin to feel the difference.
